University of New Hampshire, Durham, New Hampshire
+ Project Information
Woodburn & Company Landscape Architecture collaborated effectively with Matthew Gray Palmer, sculptor, to create the surroundings for the University’s first installation of public artwork, The Wildcat. Palmer and the University envisioned the wildcat in its native habitat, represented by a backdrop of a rocky berm planted with native plantings perennials and grasses. Special attention was given to the lighting of the sculpture, functionality of paved surfaces and scale of the surrounding landscape. Since its installation, the wildcat has provided the University and the Durham community with a tangible symbol of New Hampshire on campus.
